Creative Ideas for Your Layouts and Cards: Scrapbook PJ Party Recap

We had a great time last night at the Scrapbook Pajama Party and yes, I was on camera in my jammies!

I want to thank everyone that came out last night and for being patient when the service went out and for finding the new video feed.  You all ROCK.  I'll be sending a note to Spreecast to be sure that we can quickly fix the problem should this ever happen again.

Here I share the fast and fabulous layout we created last night and the card.  With great patterned papers and few embellishments you can still have great results!

Supplies used: Kraft cardstock, Adorn It Vintage Groove Collection Patterned Papers, Making Memories Velvet Alphas, Want 2 Scrap Pearls.

Ideas to note:

Questions and comments are cheered!!!

Finish with a Half Circle

Sometimes just a simple touch is perfect finish to a layout or card.  Half circles can be that special touch.  I love how this just adds a little extra pizzaz to an otherwise simple card.  Of course, adding the decorative brad in a different color does the same!

Supplies used: Kraft paper, Chatterbox patterned paper (I think it had been in my stash for over 4 years.)  Paper Studio Brad.

3 Simple, Fun Ways to Use Your Rub Ons

I don't know about you but I think rub ons are one of the best scrappy inventions!  When they arrived on the scene I had to have them all.  Ok maybe not them all but it feels like I really tried to get them all.  I have quite the stash to prove it.  My file runneth over.  Therefore, lately I've been trying to use up some of the stash.

With such a large variety, they are a great way to add a touch of elegance, fun, jazz or color to your projects: layouts, cards or altered art.

I created the card above.  The entire design is a rub on, except for the patterned paper, bling and pearls.

I also created an ATC and a book mark.  I love having cards ready for every occasion and bookmarks are a quick, thoughtful gift idea for those who still enjoy the feel of an actual book, as I do.

Supplies used: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Rub ons: Bo Bunny; Pearls; Bling; Ribbon: May Arts; Rit Dye.

Do you have a rub on stash?  How do you use them?

Comments are welcome and cheered!

The Color of LOVE

This week the Bloggers' Challenge over at SOC is to create anything you like using the colors red, black and white.  As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew I was in!  I love that color combination and thought..easy.  Well, here is my creation, a card.  I had fun with this, using tools and techniques I have not used in quite some time.

Here's what I did:  I painted the background with a bit of red and then smeared black ink on top, to go behind the heart to make it "pop," along with stickles on the wings.  I stamped and embossed the letters and the winged heart.  I wanted black metal hearts at top left but did not have any.  Therefore, I sanded some silver, metal, heart snaps, wiped them across a black ink pad and then dipped them into my black embossing powder and heated, to create black hearts.   I love how they turned out.  I frayed the ribbon to keep the look a bit shabby chic.

I really love this card and took numerous photos to try to highlight it.  I really don't think this photo does it justice.  As soon, as I showed it to my dh, he said, "That's beautiful."  Wow!  That really made me smile, since he usually says, "that's nice" or "it's cute." So glad he likes it seeing that in 13 more days he'll be seeing it again..with a special note inside.  LOL!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!  See ya next week with another crafty creation!

Welcoming 2013 with an Attitude of Gratitude!

Happy, Healthy, AWESOME 2013!

I awoke this morning feeling so completely grateful for EVERYTHING!  The good, the bad and the not so pretty.  Why not?  I've learned so much along the way.  THANK YOU!

Yesterday, I spent a little time creating these cards.  I kept the design simple, yet pretty to make duplicating easy.  The cards will accompany gifts to some wonderful, creative people.  I have decided to begin the new year, giving to others.  What a great feeling and a great way to begin the new year!  THANK YOU!

These cards also represent my winter creation, as challenged in the SOC Bloggers' Challenge.

Wishing each of you a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, LOVE-filled, Creative 2013!  Muah!

Thank you for reading.  Thank you for visiting often.  Thank you for sharing.  THANK YOU!
