Best Kept Secret - Microwave Popcorn Recipe!!!

Ok...seriously, who knew?  Is this news to you or am I simply the last to know?

I LOVE popcorn...but I've adopted a new, healthy lifestyle, which does not allow for all of the processed, artificial colors, artificial flavors, chemical injected goodness of prepackaged foods/popcorn.  Therefore, bagged popcorn and microwave popcorn is not on my list of things to eat....with all it's salt and fun flavorings.  Yes, I know I could buy a hot air popper but haven't done so. I like oil...I like salt...just within reason and without all the other goodies.  Well, now I can have my popcorn and eat it too and I don't have to spend big bucks to keep prepackage popcorn stocked in the cupboards.

Just get yourself:

  • a brown paper lunch bag
  • 1/4 cup of good quality popcorn kernels
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt 
  • a stapler
..and you can pop your own, wholesome, healthy bag of popcorn!  Just put all of the ingredients in the bag, shake it up to coat the kernels.  Fold the top of the bag and staple 2x to close.  Place in your microwave and heat on high for about 3 minutes or use your popcorn I did for a perfect bag of popcorn.  Remember, to avoid burning the popcorn stop it when the pops are around 4-5 seconds apart.

Have some fun, add some of your favorite seasonings to make your own "gourmet" popcorn.

I'm going to try Macadamia Nut Oil or Avocado Oil because they have a buttery taste.  Mmmmm!
